Labiaplasty Surgery

Labiaplasty majora is the surgical rejuvenation of the outer lips of the vagina, or the labia majora, in order to bring about labia majora that are aesthetically reshaped, reduced in size, or both.

Labiaplasty Majora

Most women for most of history have shied away from any discussions relating to genitalia and their appearances, especially when it comes to their own genitalia. In the past, if any woman had an issue with her external genital region- whether physical, cosmetic, or both- she would have most likely simply gone on with her life without mentioning it to anyone, not even her doctor.

Thankfully, these days, women who are experiencing any issues with their external vaginal region have more open channels of communication with which to express their concerns. Not only has external vaginal rejuvenation surgery- or as it is technically known, “labiaplasty”- been gaining more and more popularity with each passing year, but the techniques with which to bring about more efficient surgeries as well as recoveries have evolved to the point the risks associated with vaginal rejuvenation procedures are now very minimal, with patient satisfaction levels higher than ever.

When it comes to vaginal rejuvenation procedures, enhancement of the inner labia (labia minora) is more common than enhancement of the outer labia (labia majora). However, aesthetic enhancement of the labia majora, or “labiaplasty majora”, has been becoming more in demand as of late, as more and more women become comfortable discussing and being honest about physical or cosmetic problems with their genital areas.

What is Labiaplasty Majora?

Labiaplasty majora is the surgical rejuvenation of the outer lips of the vagina, or the labia majora, in order to bring about labia majora that are aesthetically reshaped, reduced in size, or both. A labiaplasty majora surgery is essentially capable of reducing the size of labia majora that are larger than average and visibly improving the appearance of labia majora that are more irregularly shaped than average.

What is the “Labia Majora”?

The labia majora, as mentioned above, are the outer lips of the vagina- the elongated outer folds that extend from the mons pubis region to the edge of rectum area, on either side of the inner vaginal lips (which are known as the labia minora).

Who are good candidates for Labiaplasty Majora?

As long as a woman is in good health, with no past or current history of serious medical issues, and has labia majora that are large or irregular enough to cause physical or aesthetic issues, she is likely a good candidate for a labiaplasty majora procedure.

However, only women who have realistic expectations of the outcome of a labiaplasty majora procedure should consider undergoing the procedure; no cosmetic surgery will be able to create a “perfect” version of any area of the body.

A labiaplasty majora is not appropriate for women who:

  • Are pregnant
  • Are menstruating (to minimize post-op infections)
  • Have had any complications from an episiotomy
  • Currently have a herpes outbreak
  • Currently have a yeast infection
  • Have had any problems with urinary incontinence
  • Have a uterus that has prolapsed (collapsed into the vaginal canal)

For women who are self-conscious enough about their labia majora that they avoid wearing tight pants or cannot fully enjoy sex with their partners, or have labia majora that are so large or irregular that they cause discomfort or pain, the labiaplasty majora is an excellent answer.

What to expect during a Labiaplasty Majora procedure?

The typical labiaplasty majora procedure is performed on an out-patient basis using local anesthesia, though general anesthesia may be used if needed.

In cases where the labia majora are simply too large, creating a bulging appearance of the vaginal region (an appearance which has come to be popularly known as the “camel toe”), liposuction will likely be performed, with a surgical excision of any excess pubic skin being performed as necessary.

In cases where the labia majora are simply too wrinkly and saggy, tightening of the labia majora skin may be required. However, tightening of the skin will not solve the issue of loss of skin volume, which requires the use of fat injections- created from fat taken from other areas of the body- to give the labia majora the youthful, plump appearance that it once had.

The exact techniques and procedures used during a labiaplasty majora surgery will differ from patient to patient. The techniques and procedures used will be predetermined by the cosmetic surgeon after a careful pre-op consultation with the patient as to what her labia majora issues are and the results that she is expecting.

A few weeks ago I saw Dr. Samuel for these terrible spider veins I had on my legs. He advised me that there are laser treatments that he performs that would "zap" my spider veins away! I had the laser vein removal performed three times, and my legs look awesome! I do not have spider veins anymore! I can't wait for summer to come to show off my new legs!

I was embarrassed at first at the thought of receiving anything from a cosmetic surgery center as a man, but when I finished six laser hair removal treatments I was happy I did. I actually started noticing a difference after two treatments. My skin feels great and there's no sign of unwanted hair. Plus, he has some fine girls working for him.
